The Cinema of 2009

I still have many films to catch up on before Oscar; but this year-end reflection reminds me both how much I love the cinema, as well as how rare a truly great (read: enduring) film experience is -- you can blame "the system", or you can simply recognize that capturing lightning in a bottle, as Peter Gruber would say, is a rare feat not to be underappreciated.
